Hands On With the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE: A Midrange Phone That Feels High-End
Samsung’s Galaxy S24 FE has officially launched, and it’s making a big push to bring Galaxy AI tools to a broader audience. Priced at $649.99, this Fan Edition model promises high-end features at a midrange price. After spending some hands-on time with the Galaxy S24 FE, here’s a first look at its design and features.
Design: Familiar and Functional
The Galaxy S24 FE keeps the recognizable Galaxy design with a rectangular body and rounded corners. It measures 6.38 by 3.04 by 0.31 inches and weighs 7.51 ounces, making it slightly larger and heavier than its predecessor, the Galaxy S23 FE. The phone feels solid and durable, with an IP68 rating that ensures dust resistance and waterproofing.
Display: Big and Bright
The phone comes with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display offering a resolution of 2,340 by 1,080 pixels, a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and a peak brightness of 1,700 nits. This makes it larger and brighter than the S23 FE’s display. The relatively thick bezels may not appeal to all users, but the screen delivers excellent visual quality for its price range.
Camera and Features
The S24 FE sports three rear cameras: a 50MP main lens with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide, and an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Though similar to the S23 FE, it maxes out at 10x digital zoom, unlike the 30x zoom on its predecessor. AI-powered photo enhancements through Samsung’s ProVisual Engine promise better photography, but further testing is needed to evaluate the results.
In terms of build, the phone feels premium with its aluminum and glass materials, though slightly less refined than the main S24 lineup. All in all, the Galaxy S24 FE offers a compelling blend of features at a competitive price.
